Times Museum and the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou Cooperate to Present Art Master Talk

On March 16, 2013, Times Museum and the Consulate General of the U.S. in Guangzhou jointly held "Beyond Form: A Talk by Joel Shapiro" in the Public Multifunction Hall on the ground floor of Guangdong Times Museum. Thanks to great support from the FAPE, the lecture was of great success.

Mr. Shapiro, a famous American sculptor born in New York City in 1941, was in 2005 a recipient of the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. Well known for his dynamic work composed of rectangular shapes, the artist's works are collected by a variety of American and overseas public organizations. In the lecture Mr. Shapiro talked about his work, placing an emphasis on the meaning of form, and shared his opinion with the audience: Form responds to and articulates some human conditions that are so fundamental that they transcend culture.

Nearly two hundred audience members attended the lecture in a warm atmosphere. After the lecture, the audience joined the guests on the nineteenth-floor balcony of Times Museum, where they were enchanted by Kapok Winds' beautiful music as they enjoyed delicious food and wine. The friendly interactions between the guests and the audience amid the relaxing environment served as the perfect conclusion to the lecture.

Times Museum is dedicated to the integration of art to life and community, striving to show more people the charm of Times Property as a "life stylist." Meanwhile, as a platform for culture, art production and communication, the Museum will endeavor to introduce to China and its communities the advanced, international art ideas, serving as a facilitator and engine of art and cultural activities in Guangzhou..
