Times Property Wins the “Oscar” for Art at the Annual Awarding Ceremony of ACC Art China Held in the Forbidden City

On the evening of May 23, 2014, the Times Art Gallery was awarded the Annual Art Exhibition Prize of the 8th AAC Art China, adding to the glory Zhao Qie had brought to Times Property. Zhao is the curator of the Times Art Gallery and was awarded the honorary title of “Annual Art Contributor 2012” on the China Contemporary Art Power List. Renowned as the “Oscar” in the art circle and revered by experts in art, the Annual Art Exhibition Prize was unveiled at the Palace of Benevolent Tranquility of the Forbidden City in Beijing.

 

Over 600 prestigious guests gather in the Forbidden City

The 8th AAC Art China Annual Influence Awarding Ceremony was held at the Palace of Benevolent Tranquility of the Forbidden City in Beijing that evening. Through eight years of accumulation, the “AAC Art China Annual Influence (AAC)” has witnessed how Chinese contemporary art grabbed global attention and has become the most academic, authoritative and influential platform for promoting excellent artists, artistic works and art exhibitions and events in the Chinese art industry.

Chaired by Yang Lan, the famous hostess in China, the awarding ceremony held in the Forbidden City attracted over 600 distinguished guests, including Shan Jixiang, the Curator of the Forbidden City Museum, Wang Jiawei, the renowned film director, Fan Di’an, the Curator of the National Art Museum of China, and Pan Gongkai, the Head of Central Academy of Fine Arts. All judges of the preliminary and the final selections of the AAC, together with the nominated artists and prize winners of the 8th AAC, also attended the annual art event featuring both ancient and modern elements. Supplemented by the contemporary art, the time-honored Forbidden City took on an unprecedented charm.

 

 
 
 

Times Property wins the annual honor with the “Autonomous Region” Exhibition

“Autonomous Region” and “Indulgence – Individual Exhibition of Pipilotti Rist”, the two international exhibitions of Guangdong Times Art Gallery, were nominated for the Annual Art Exhibition of the “AAC Art China”. The third nominator was the “Profile of Times: Thirty Years of the Contemporary Art” Exhibition held by Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum. Ultimately, the judges unanimously agreed that Annual Art Exhibition Prize of the 8th AAC Art China went to the “Autonomous Region” Exhibition. In the warm applause, Zhao Qie received the precious prize awarded by Xie Suzhen, the famous exhibition planner and the executive curator of Yinchuan Contemporary Art Gallery.

Starting from December 2013, the 8th AAC has lasted for as long as half a year. In the process, over 100 prestigious judges were fully engaged in the preliminary and the final selections, ensuring the objectiveness, justice and fairness of the AAC selection. Meanwhile, the participation of these judges made the prize all the more attractive and thus became an “Oscar” in the art circle.

With a history of only three years, Guangdong Times Art Gallery has always stuck to the academic orientation of the contemporary art and has constantly held high-quality international exhibitions, playing an important role in the contemporary art circle of China and even the world. The nomination of our two exhibitions and our winning of the honorary title of “Annual Best Exhibition” fully demonstrate the significance of the Times Art Gallery and its contribution to the Chinese art circle!
