The first general meeting and founding meeting of Guangdong Museum Association was held in Guangdong Museum on March 28, 2015, under the guidance of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture, and monitored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs. Times Museum was honored as a standing member of the Guangdong Museum Association.

The Guangdong Museum Association is the nation's first provincial museum association as well as the first provincial, nonprofit, professional group in Guangdong to be comprised of museums, experts and art exhibition venues. The association's establishment indicates the emphasis of the Ministry of Culture and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture in striving for innovation in artistic culture and development. Additionally, it shows that the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture has gained a comprehensive understanding of the current status and requirements of cultural development from the macro perspective. Of course, it has also endeavored to promote museum development in Guangdong by basing itself on cultural inheritance and innovation. It is an active exploration that will incorporate significant measures to enhance the logical, scientific development of museums. Moreover, it's profoundly emblematic of the effort to enhance the general structure of China’s museums.

Yang Shu, the deputy director general of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture, unveiled the plaque of the Guangdong Museum Association, which was met with rapturous applause. The association's establishment thus opens a new chapter in the development and management of art facilities. It brings forth the benefits and convenience needed to integrate museum resources from all of Guangdong, pool the wisdom of artistic talent, promote the professional development of museums, and strengthen the planning, management and guidance of art. Additionally, it will serve as the means to build a scientifically reasonable development pattern in art and motivate the socialistic cultural development to build a strong, thriving China.

As a standing member of the Guangdong Museum Association, Times Museum--being characterized by its professionalism as a nonprofit--has garnered acknowledgment from high-level agencies such as the Department of Culture, along with museums throughout the nation. Consequently, with respect to self-development and resource integration, Times Museum will benefit greatly from its membership in the Guangdong Museum Association. It is hoped that Times Museum can continue its remarkable progress and achieve high stature among the museums of China.
