Vice President of Xiaomi Technology Li Wanqiang Guested Times TIT Square and “Shared” Secret of Xiaomi Brand
On September 13, vice president of Xiaomi Technology Li Wanqiang guested Times TIT Square and “shared” secret of Xiaomi Brand. As the co-founder and vice president of Xiaomi Technology, Li Wanqiang also had another identity--general manager of Kingsoft Powerword and design director of Kingsoft Office Software Corporation Limited. Shifting from “technical man” to “marketing expert”, Li Wanqiang revealed the secret of Xiaomi’s success through sharing his experience and stories about building the brand.
In the “Times Culture Complex, Southern Art Salon”, 37-year-old Li Wanqiang shared secret of Xiaomi Brand--a sense of participation getting 10 million people involved in research and development for Xiaomi. In the Art Salon, Li Wanqiang admitted that Xiaomi was not selling products; instead, it created a sense of participation. “Xiaomi’s slogan is ‘Born for Enthusiasm’, and for this slogan, we created a sound environment to bond users via social media, while the users offer us tons of feedbacks.” Li Wanqiang gave a simple example that the users would vote to decide the direction of R&D and upgrade of Xiaomi mobile on the forum every Friday, a vote which we referred to as “Orange Friday”. This forum had more than 100 million visits per day and nearly 300,000 posts were made. “I once counted that at least 10 million voters are senior users.”
In addition, Li Wanqiang also demonstrated how to promote the concept of “short supply” and how to research and develop and promote products from the perspective of customers via presenting a series of pictures and lots of examples, allowing us to have more understanding of Xiaomi and more thinking and inspiration for our job.
