The Thirteenth Times Property Baiyun Cup table tennis open tournament was held at Guangzhou Gymnasium on December 31, 2016, and January 1, 2017, welcoming the participation of 1,132 enthusiastic amateur table tennis players, representing 211 teams.

The Times Property Baiyun Cup, acknowledged as the top tennis tournament in the Pearl River Delta, has long been an eagerly awaited sporting event in Baiyun District. Moreover, the thirteenth edition of the tourney marks the first in 12 years to have Times Property's sponsorship. In addition to its long history, the event is impressive for its scale (receiving 1,000 to 1,500 players each year), wide coverage and lavish awards, making it an amateur event that is at once exclusive and of a very high standard. Additionally, it's a good platform for table tennis enthusiasts to learn from each other, exchange experiences and promote friendships.

As the final sporting event of the year, the Thirteenth Times Property Baiyun Cup carried forth a tradition of excellence. As the sponsor, Times Property helped encourage the participation of many local enterprises.

Many distinguished guests were present at the opening ceremony, including Mr. Chen Jianhua, director of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress, honorary vice-chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, honorary chairman of the Guangdong Table Tennis Association and chairman of the Guangzhou Table Tennis Association; Mr. Su Zhijia, chairman of the Guangzhou CPPCC and honorary vice-chairman of the Guangzhou Table Tennis Association; Mr. Pan Wenjie, director of the Standing Committee of the Baiyun District People's Congress; Mr. Yuan Donghua, chairman of the Baiyun District CPPCC; Mr. Liu Guohua, vice-mayor of Baiyun District; Mr. Pang Wenhong, honorary vice-chairman of the Guangdong Table Tennis Association, honorary vice-president of the Guangzhou Table Tennis Association and honorary chairman of the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association; Mr. Chen Xinhua, world table tennis champion and honorary vice-chairman of the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association; Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, board chairman of Times Property Holdings Limited and honorary president of the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association; Mr. Guan Jianhui, vice-president and director of the board of Times Property Holdings Limited and president of the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association; and Mr. Liu Sicheng, chairman of the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association.

This year, the Baiyun District Table Tennis Association was formally approved for registration as a civil association by the Bureau of Civil Affairs. The First Founding Conference was held before the opening ceremony in order to elect members to its management body, and on that occasion the letters of appointment were issued. Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, the board chairman of Times Property Holdings Limited, and Mr. Guan Jianhui, the vice-president and director of the board of Times Property Holdings Limited received the letters of appointment.
