The new president, Shum Chiu Hung, elaborated on the work to be done in order for the tenth session of the GYEA to fulfill its goals.

First, he said, the GYEA should inspire the innovative spirit in youth entrepreneurs by functioning concurrently as a bridge and hub.

Secondly, the GYEA should foster a favorable growing environment for youth entrepreneurs by uniting them and helping to meet their needs.

Thirdly, the GYEA should, through means of education and guidance, become a reliable, accessible resource for young entrepreneurs.

GYEA Functions as a Bridge and Hub in Its 30-Year Expansion

The Guangdong Youth Entrepreneurs Association has, since its founding in 1986, been guided by the words "cohesive, well-served, vibrant and promising" in its effort to establish a modern enterprise system and improve the economic efficiency of enterprises while cultivating outstanding young entrepreneurs.

The power of the steadily expanding GYEA has been reinforced along with the rapid social and economic development of Guangdong. Today it has 21 group members and approximately 270 individual members. The group members are mainly municipal youth entrepreneurial associations, while the individuals, who average 38 years of age, are involved in business and management in state-owned, collective, joint-venture, private, foreign-funded and other types of enterprises with annual turnover of RMB 100 million in various domains throughout China.

The GYEA has, in recent years, lent support to the "Wings" program. It has encouraged member enterprises to provide more than 3,000 posts for internship (or probationary employment) and has blazed a trail in the "100 Leading Youth Enterprises" program, a strength-improvement plan for leading enterprises on the scale of RMB 100 million, with a total of 29 member enterprises selected. In fact, four and five members made the "Guangdong Economic Individual/Enterprise of the Year" list in 2014 and 2015, respectively. The GYEA, which places a premium on communication at work and the outside world, has conducted programs such as "Guangdong Businessmen to 100 Counties," the Guangdong-Taiwan Youth Exchange Meeting, the Guangdong-Shanxi Youth Entrepreneur Exchange Camp on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and "Youth Concentric Circle • Guangdong-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exchange Meeting," thus paving the way for effective regional economic and trade cooperation.

Additionally, the GYEA has participated in activities to encourage innovation-driven development in Guangdong, functioned as a model in supply-side structural reform, building of independent innovation demonstration zone in the Pearl River Delta region and independent core technology systems.

The GYEA will continue to serve its members by promoting government-enterprise tie-ups, innovative financing, intellectual upgrading, trade exchanges and incentives through appraisal as it strives to make enterprises more socially responsible and contribute their due share, not only to Guangdong's economy but to society as well.
