As a follow-up to the wildly successful "Phantom of the Opera," which was held last year from November 18 to December 2, Guangzhou Opera House will welcome another great show: "Romeo and Juliet," performed in French by the original cast. The event will be exclusively sponsored by Times Riverbank of Times Property. When the world's most romantic love story meets the most touching melody, there will certainly be sparks in the late-autumn air of Guangzhou. The production team visited the Experimental Theater of Guangzhou Opera House in the afternoon of October 24 to attend the press conference announcing the Guangzhou stop of this thrilling musical tour.

The original staging of "Romeo and Juliet" immediately caused a sensation in France when it debuted on February 14, 2000, at the Palais des congrès de Paris. Subsequently, it was performed in 18 countries and regions including Britain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Romania, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and China (Shanghai), being remade in German, Italian, Russian, Mongolian, Korean, Japanese and other languages. For more than 10 years, this quintessentially French musical production has been a hit around the world. "Romeo and Juliet" has attracted an audience of 6.5 million and become a miracle in the annals of musical theater. There are 17 sessions in Guangzhou. Since ticket sales started on August 25, orders from Guangdong Province and beyond have flown in like snowflakes. Some fans came a long way from Nanjing, Chongqing and Chengdu, and others will fly from Australia to see the show. The romantic charm of musical "Romeo and Juliet" will be on full display.

The historic success of the musical "Romeo and Juliet" would perhaps not have been possible without the French legend Gérard Presgurvic. He created many popular and classic songs with his passion for drama and music, which not only include lyrical songs celebrating the love of the protagonists, such as "Aimer" and "Le Balcon," which have inspired millions of tears, but also passionate dance music describing the village of Verona and gorgeous balls portrayed in "Vérone" and "Les Rois du monde." Passionate rock rhythm can absolutely excite the whole audience! In fact, "Les Rois du monde" dominated the French singles board for 17 weeks in 2000, and the next year it was named "Song of the Year" at the NRJ Music Awards.

In order to match the young images of Romeo and Juliet, the crew specifically cast the 27-year-old Alexei Loizon and 19-year-old Clemence Illiaquer as the male and female protagonists, respectively. Their rich singing experience and beautiful appearance will draw the attention of millions and add glory to the show.

Love is an eternal topic of humankind. Similarly, the Pearl River symbolizes eternal yearning for the people of Guangzhou and Foshan, who live along its banks. Thus, Times Riverbank joins the Guangzhou Opera House to present the French original musical "Romeo and Juliet" in Guangzhou. It will bring an international cultural feast, inspiring a more artistic way of life along the Pearl River. The Times Riverbank project, located on Haibei Avenue in Jinshazhou, features rare Western-style homes with river views right in the city. The phase I development encompasses nearly 65,000 square meters, representing a total floor area of 326,000 square meters. The community boasts an international bilingual kindergarten of 2,400 square meters, commercial amenities of 8,000 square meters, an elegant garden of 20,000 square meters, a swimming pool, a half-size basketball court, a badminton court, a children's activity center and a gym. Additionally, the phase II development covers a land area of 110,000 square meters, and a total floor area of 540,000 square meters. Times plans to build 14 high-rise and super high-rise Western-style buildings.
