A celebration to mark the 110th anniversary of the Foshan Nanhai Middle School Alumni Association was held with grand ceremony on the December 16. Times Property Group Chairman Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, an alumnus of the school, delivered a speech at the gathering.

Mr. Shum fondly recalled his time as a student at Nanhai Middle School and expressed deep appreciation for his alma mater. Moreover, in order to give back to his school and support the development of education there, he and two other alumni have established and sponsored the Education Development Foundation of Nanhai Middle School through donations totaling RMB 3 million. Additionally, RMB 500,000 was given to support the activities of the 110th anniversary celebration.

Care Deeply About Education, Give Back to the Alma Mater and Establish the Foundation Hand in Hand

The Education Development Foundation of Nanhai Middle School was officially established and inaugurated at the Alumni Association's celebratory gathering. The original asset of the foundation consisted of the donations by three alumni, namely Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, Mr. Pan Zhiyong and Mr. Li Rongfa. Thus the total asset of the foundation at its establishment amounted to RMB4.1 million, including Mr. Shum Chiu Hung’s individual donation of RMB3 million.

During the study period, the school's credo--"Strive for self-improvement and create greater good"--was imprinted in Mr. Shum's heart. As an entrepreneur, he hopes to repay his alma mater by doing so, contributing his strengths and talents for the continued development of education at the school and throughout Nanhai District.

The Education Development Foundation of Nanhai Middle School in Nanhai District of Foshan was established with approval from the Foshan Civil Affairs Bureau, being part of a general effort to help students, promote learning and subsidize families that are challenged by the cost of education. The foundation's overall mission is to reward excellent teachers, administrative staff and students who demonstrate excellence in character and learning; to fund the teaching, administrative staff, alumni and students who experience financial difficulties; and to support other projects related to the development of education.

Times Property Consistently Promotes China's Educational Development

As early as 2003, Mr. Shum Chiu Hung established the Guangzhou Times Property Charity Foundation, and for many years he has been committed to supporting the public-welfare undertakings of education, medical care and poverty alleviation. Education is a key area of long-term concern for the Times Property Group and Times Property Charity Foundation.

In 2016, Times Property Charity Foundation donated RMB 30 million to support the Nanhai Entrepreneurs Educational Fund, set up special awards on teaching, scholarships and student funds in a number of well-known colleges and universities across the country to encourage the education workers and support numerous students to complete their studies. Also, Times Property Charity Foundation established a total of 13 Hope schools in remote mountainous areas and organized staff volunteers to act as teachers so as to participate in the development of education in China.

Times Property Group promotes education and gives back to society. Thus the Group will continue its contribution to the development of education and provide help for more students in order to help them complete their studies.
