It was Christmas Eve in Guangzhou, and a gentle breeze played amid the sunlight. Yuanjing Road was vibrant in a happy Christmas atmosphere as pedestrians rushed here and there in an endless stream. On this beautiful holiday, the Korea Town partnered with seven well-known educational institutions to pass on the Christmas spirit of sharing and giving with a fun-filled "Intelligent Christmas Carnival."

In the morning, a giant snow globe appeared in the front square of the Times Commercial Building in Korea Town development. Surrounding the snow globe, smiling people dressed in red, emulating the beloved Santa Claus, handed out Christmas-themed head decorations, hats, clap rings and coin purses, thus conveying the happy mood of this one-of-a-kind holiday with all the children.

Partnering for the occasion with seven well-known educational institutions--including Shuhua Fine Arts, Engron International Education, 1Smart Education and Zhiyang Mental Abacus Calculation--Times hosted interactions and performance, including a battle of wits with a magic cube, a Michael Jackson-style "moonwalk" dance and do-it-yourself Christmas decoration crafts. Each of the educational institutions provided children with artistic and intelligent enlightenment as they passed on the happy, eternally youthful Christmas spirit.

The activity lasted for three days, attracted more than 5,000 visitors to Korea Town in the excellent interactions and the lucky drawing. Among them were expatriate South Koreans, residents on Yuanjing Road and tourists who came in search of luscious Korean food. People gathered around the giant snow globe, toured the many merchants' stalls and immersed themselves in the Christmas atmosphere for as long as possible.

People who witness the prosperous, always busy Yuanjing Road can barely believe that it was just a quiet little Guangzhou lane two decades ago. Then, with the wave of globalization, Koreans came here and built their lives anew.
