On March 21, in order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the national "two sessions" and the important speeches by General Secretary Xi during the deliberations of the Guangdong delegation, main leaders of the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Guangzhou Private Entrepreneurs Association, together with representatives from nearly 500 outstanding private entrepreneurships, gathered at the Langham Place Hotel for the general assembly of the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce of Private Enterprises and Policy Interpretation Meeting.

Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, vice chairman of the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce, executive chairman of the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce of Private Enterprises and chairman of the Board of Times China, was invited to attend and preside over the assembly.

The meeting summed up the 2017 work of the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce of Private Enterprises and affirmed the chamber's positive role in establishing a platform for exchange and the undertaking of government functions. Thus, after the review and approval of new council members, the meeting continued with an in-depth discussion of the latest national policies. Mr. Yuan Zhimin, deputy to the National People's Congress, chairman of the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce and chairman of the Guangzhou General Chamber of Commerce, and Meng Lihong, a member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and deputy chairman of the Guangzhou General Chamber of Commerce, were invited to witness the spirit and dedication of the "two sessions."

A particular point of emphasis at the meeting was the fact that the national "two sessions" were held with adherence to the guidelines of the socialist ideology of Chinese characteristics in the new era of Xi Jinping. Thus, the assembly implemented the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Party and successfully fulfilled its various tasks. It was a banner-holding, core-maintaining, power-consolidating historic meeting of great significance in the effort to build a more comprehensively prosperous society and attain a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Additionally, the gathering illuminated the direction for the development of private enterprise in the new era.

It was emphasized that, in the new era of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics, the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce of Private Enterprises would function as people's organizations, strengthen theoretical studies, enhance the quality and effectiveness of political processes, update service skills, promote the development of a non-public ownership economy and promote the formation of a more comprehensive economy for Guangzhou.

Guangzhou's real economy and innovative industries will, in the future, demonstrate ever-brighter prospects. Accordingly, the representatives of private entrepreneurships will respect the party's leadership, firmly grasp the new opportunities in the reform, development and strategic construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, strive to enhance sustainable development and the competitiveness of enterprises, and improve the vitality of non-public ownership economy while helping to build an institutional mechanism that promotes quality of economic development in a modern economic system. Through such processes, they will ensure the formation of a comprehensive opening structure, the creation of a common construct for governance and the sharing of social governance for Guangdong and the nation.
