The College Students Volunteer Service Program for Western Regions was launched in 2003, and it has prospered throughout each of its 15 years. Each year, by public recruitment, voluntary sign-up, internal selection and centralized dispatch, fresh graduates and/or postgraduate students from institutions of higher education are recruited to reside in communities in the western region and carry out a one- to three-year voluntary service program in education, healthcare, agricultural technology and poverty alleviation.
This is the third year for the special "Hope Village Teacher Project" under the Guangdong College Students Volunteer Service Program for Mountainous Regions. It is also the second year in which Times China Holdings Limited participated through assistance with funding.

Dedicating to "helping more people live the lifestyle they are longing for," Times China initiated and established the Guangdong Times Foundation as early as 2003, which has been 15 years so far. Growth in children's education has been a priority. Thus, the Foundation will encourage excellent young teachers to sign up for the Hope Village Teacher Project and work in rural areas. This will help ensure that every child enjoys equal access to quality educational resources and that every young teacher can contribute to education in rural areas as we work toward China's rejuvenation and ultimate attainment of the Chinese Dream.
