Times Foundation Has been Committed to Exploring Public Welfare for Fifteen Years
As one of the earliest real estate corporate foundations in China, the Times Foundation has been operated for 15 years.
The Times Foundation has, by upholding the mission of "making it possible for more people to choose their own life," the Times Foundation has focused on four major fields, namely education, art, medical treatment, and poverty alleviation and relief, with accumulated donations of more than RMB 800 million. The Foundation has organized and co-organized more than 800 public-welfare activities with the cumulative direct beneficiaries of more than 500,000 people. As a social organization it was given a 5A rating, which is the highest provincial designation given by the Guangdong Department of Civil Affairs.
Ms. Li Yiping, who established the Times Foundation, in her speech at the event, said the Foundation was always thinking about how to help needy people more effectively. Thus, a 15-year exploration of the issue has enlightened the organization. The Times Foundation should empower the recipients so as to help them break through the barriers and "make it possible for more people to choose their own life."
Ms. Li Yiping further explained that: Empowerment is to help the recipients find the crucial reasons for their incapability to improve the status quo so as to help them break through these barriers and gain the ability to continuously improve their life. After a person gains the ability to change his/her life after being empowered, he/she will help more people in the same way so as to spreads positive energy and form a virtuous circle.
Under the guidance of this concept, the public welfare model of Times Foundation is being upgraded from providing pure material support to empowering individuals to break through the status quo and from offering one-off help to exerting a lasting impact on their lives. The "Field Blossom" project is a typical public welfare program of Times Foundation based on the concept of empowerment.
