Shum Chiu Hung Is Appointed Honorary Trustee of Westlake University
The sixth session of the first board meeting of Westlake University was held on October 13, 2019, in Shenzhen. In the session, Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, board chairman of Times China Holdings Limited, was appointed as an honorary trustee. University Chairman Qian Yingyi and University President Shi Yigong jointly presented the letter of appointment.

According to the Articles of Association of Westlake University, the honorary trusteeship is awarded to a socially elite individual who has made a significant contribution to the school's development. Over the years, Mr. Shum Chiu Hung has actively engaged in and supported the cause of educational development, and in the future Times China will work closely with Westlake University to ensure its status as a high-level research institution.
The meeting reviewed the financial report and audit report of Westlake University in 2018, the remuneration and benefit adjustment plan in 2019, and the work responsibilities of the committees of the university's board of trustees. Additionally, it approved a proposal to amend the Articles of Association and confirmed the board meeting scheduled to take place in 2020.

Westlake University is a new kind of nonprofit higher education institution hosted by social bodies with support from the State. Based in Zhejiang, it was previously known as Westlake Institute for Advanced Study. The school originated in Hangzhou on December 10, 2016, through the efforts of education-minded scientists such as Mr. Shi Yigong, Mr. Chen Shiyi, Mr. Pan Jianwei and Mr. Rao Yi. Fourteen months later, on February 14, 2018, Westlake University was formally established with approval by the Ministry of Education.
Thus, Times China will also work closely with Westlake University. The effort will be to empower its mission as a high-level research university while contributing to China's strategy of revitalization through innovation in education and science.
