Times China donated RMB 5 million to the Zhongnanshan Medical Foundation of Guangdong Province through the Guangdong Times Foundation on March 13, 2020, in order to establish the “Times China Special Fund for Respiratory Studies”, reward achievements in the research projects of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and enhance China's research as part of the effort to prevent and treat respiratory diseases.

He Jianxing, president of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health; Huang Qinghui, vice president of the Zhongnanshan Medical Foundation of Guangdong Province; Cheng Xiuzhong, vice president of Times China; and Li Lingling, secretary of the CPC Committee of Times China and president of Times Foundation, witnessed the establishment of the “Times China Special Fund for Respiratory Studies”.

The fund is intended to support the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health in tackling difficulties and challenges in research related to respiratory diseases, including rewarding clinical treatment of COVID-19 patients, R&D of effective medicines, vaccines and related achievements.

Times China and the Times Foundation have monitored updates on the COVID-19 pandemic since its outbreak in order to ensure quick response.

Times China donated RMB 3 million through Times Foundation to support Wuhan on January 25. The funds were then transferred to medical institutions for the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19 through the purchase of medical devices and supplies. Additionally, on January 31 Times China donated RMB 12 million to the Health Commission of Guangdong Province (of which RMB 7 million would be used to support pandemic prevention in Guangdong Province and RMB 5 million would apply to the purchase of medical supplies across the world in support of medical first-responders). Concurrently, the company donated RMB 1 million to the Red Cross Society of China for pandemic prevention and medical supplies to be purchased by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Moreover, Times China provided first-responders with almost four tons of medical gloves, masks, disposable gowns and other supplies purchased overseas as a means to ensure safety for health workers and citizens.

Times China has donated RMB 21 million in funds and medical supplies through the Times Foundation to facilitate prevention and control during the pandemic.
