Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day | Times China Awarded Gold Award of the Kapok Cup Again after the 11th Year of Consistent Involvement
“Thousands of Enterprises Assist Thousands of Towns and Villages”
The 2021 Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day and the Launch Ceremony of “Thousands of Enterprises Assist Thousands of Towns and Villages” were held on June 30, 2021. Times China Holdings Limited (Times China) pledged a donation of RMB 15 million through its philanthropic arm, Guangdong Times Charity Foundation (Times Foundation).
Mr. Li Xi, secretary of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee; Mr. Ma Xingrui, deputy secretary of the Provincial CPC Committee and province governor; Ms. Li Yumei, director of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress; Mr. Wang Rong, president of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC; Mr. Zhang Fuhai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee and secretary general and director of the General Office of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee; Ms. Ye Zhenqin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee, as well as other leading officials of the province attended the ceremony. Ms. Li Lingling, secretary of the CPC Committee of Times China Holdings Limited and president of Times Foundation, was received by the provincial leaders as an enterprise representative and attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Ye Zhenqin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee, announced the evaluation results for the 2020 Kapok Cup of Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day. Times China was awarded the 2020 Gold Award of the Kapok Cup.

At the 2021 Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day and the Launch Ceremony of “Thousands of Enterprises Assist Thousands of Towns and Villages”, Times China pledged a donation of RMB15 million through the Times Foundation. Ms. Li Lingling, secretary of the CPC Committee of Times China and president of Times Foundation, raised the cardboard to signal a donation. Ye Niuping, secretary general of the provincial government and director of the general office, accepted the donation from Times China as a representative.

Consolidate the results of poverty alleviation and support rural revitalization
Times China, established in 1999, is one of China's top 500 private companies, one of the Fortune China 500 companies, and one of China’s top 50 real estate enterprises. Founded in 2003, Times Foundation is one of the first charity organizations established by Chinese private enterprises. For 18 years, Times Foundation upholds the mission of “make more people able to choose their own life,” and focuses on four major fields, namely, education, art, medical treatment, and poverty alleviation and disaster relief. The accumulated donations made by Times Foundation have exceeded RMB1 billion so far. It was rated as 5A Social Organization of Guangdong Province in the provincial rating of social organizations organized by the Guangdong Department of Civil Affairs.
This year marks the centennial of the Communist Party of China, the opening of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and a crucial year for the connection between consolidation of poverty alleviation results and promotion of rural revitalization. Times China and Times Foundation will always spare no effort to give back to society and make greater contributions to consolidation of poverty alleviation results and promotion of rural revitalization.

Times China and Times Foundation have, since 2010, participated in the “Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day on June 30” for 11 consecutive years, in the process assisting Bijie and Qiannan of Guizhou; Yunnan; Sichuan; Foshan, Qingyuan, Zhongshan, Zengcheng, Heyuan, Meizhou, Raoping and Zhanjiang of Guangdong, and other underserved areas.
Mr. Shum Chiu Hung, board chairman of Times China and founder of Times Foundation, was in 2020 honored as an “Individual of Outstanding Contribution and Benevolence on the Tenth Anniversary.”
Two years earlier, in 2018, Times Foundation initiated the “Field Blossom” charity project as the means to promote rural art education in two aspects: the training of teachers and the improvement of facilities. The project has integrated the education service and the renovation of spaces as its model to popularize music, fine arts and physical education at rural primary schools, revitalize rural areas with art education and cultivate successors for the rural revitalization strategy.
The “Field Blossom” project has been extended to three provinces, 17 prefecture-level cities and 41 counties, with 139 multifunctional art classrooms established. Nearly 100 volunteer teachers graduated from music, fine arts and physical education majors were dispatched to the rural schools, approximately 40,000 classes devoted to music, fine arts and physical education were given, and training programs were provided for more than 15,000 rural teachers in those categories. Approximately 600,000 rural children benefited from the effort.
